The first export of breeding stock from Ireland to Armenia was successfully shipped recently. The animals were sent to ‘Vamax, Company’ a mining and agricultural company based in the South East, close to the border of Iran. These were for the population of a new 220 sow farm which was built by Austrian company Schauer. This pilot project is being monitored closely by investors and the government as a viable method of developing and modernising the pig industry in Armenia. A further second delivery of animals is planned for Autumn 2015.
